There’s a quiet crisis happening in workplaces right now — and most organizations don’t see it coming.
We’re investing more than ever in technology, automation, and process improvement. But when it comes to the humans running those systems? The investment is falling dangerously short.
I recently was asked to co-host a webcast for HR.com on Future-Ready Skills: Building Durable Competencies for Tomorrow’s Workplace, (link to watch the full session below) and I want to bring the core of that conversation directly to you — because if you lead people, this matters deeply.
The skills that will matter most tomorrow are the ones most leaders are neglecting today.
Not the technical certifications. Not the platform expertise. The durable competencies — self-awareness, emotional intelligence, values-driven decision-making, and purposeful leadership — are the ones that create leaders who don’t just survive disruption, they navigate it with confidence.
Here’s what I’ve seen in over 40 years of working with leaders across industries: the people who rise consistently are not always the most credentialed. They are the most self-aware. They know their style, their values, their blind spots — and they lead from that knowledge every single day.
My challenge to you as a Transformational Leader: Don’t wait for your organization to prioritize this. Take ownership. Ask yourself — What durable competency am I actively developing right now, and what would be possible if I committed to it for the next 90 days?
If you want a structured path forward, CRG’s Leadership Skills Inventory gives you a clear picture of where you stand across 60 foundational leadership skills. And our Transformational Leadership eCourse gives you the blueprint to close those gaps with intention.
